About me and The Bridge

My name is Roger Tunsley and I am a freelance business writer and wordoholic. I write technical manuals, scientific articles, quality and safety instructions, corporate web site content, and so on. The beer and white wine spritzers of the writing world.

Business writing is work. You’re dealing with a corporate subset of words. It’s like getting to the office and dealing with email, spreadsheets, presentations. There’s no room for play words. So now and then I like to tie one on, to play with the red wine and liquor words and phrases, to mull over age-old questions such as why does one chop a tree down and then chop it up? And who first used the terribly glued-together word irregardless? (I’m normally annoyed whenever the red dashed line appears under a spelling mistake, but there it is under irregardless and I couldn’t be more pleased.)

So this blog, which is tied to my web site www.casterbridge.com is where I can let my hair down (but there isn’t any), quote Bill Bryson and George Carlin, and have fun. I hope you do too.
